If Only I Knew What I Know Now

Life is a journey. Good times and bad times. Happy times and sad times. Nothing is permanent.

Life is a continuous learning experience. Throughout our lives, we keep rising and falling, picking up important lessons along the way.

There are so many lessons I wish I had knew while I was younger to appreciate and apply them. Here they are, in no particular order:

  1. I wish I’d had the courage to live a life true to myself, not the life others expected of me.
  2. You don’t always have all the answers and there’s no problem with that. Nobody has all the answers.
  3. Whenever you feel it’s time to act, take action. No matter the outcome, you will end up smarter than before.
  4. It’s okay to let yourself feel your feelings, rather than pretend like they don’t exist.
  5. Don’t be afraid to do something that’s totally out of your comfort zone just because you think you may fail.
  6. Educate yourself about money management.
  7. Less stuff is better. You don’t need a big closet full with clothes. You don’t need different pair of shoes for every day of the week.
  8. Manage your health. Don’t eat ayam geprek keju every single day. Stop drink boba everytime you bored. Eat more fruits and vegetables.

9. Tell your family you love them as often as possible, one day they’ll be gone.

10. Don’t waste your time on toxic people or toxic relationship.

11. Aware of your habits and how you spend your time.

12. Better done than perfect. My favorite excuse for my lack of action and initiative used to be perfectionism.

13. Stop saying, “Someday I’ll be happy when I can get X or do Y”. Instead, start choosing to be happy right now, regardless of what’s going on in your life.

14. Be discipline. So you won’t regret.

15. Read books that you’ve bought.

16. Focus on one thing at a time. Crush it. Then move on to the next thing. Multitasking is a myth.

17. Forgive everyone who hurt you. Forgiveness will set you free.

18. Everyone deserves to be treated with kindness and respect.

19. Be flexible and adapt to changes.

20. Embrace the good and don’t stress over the bad. Everything is temporary.

21. Hug your father more.

22. Travel more, covid-19 sucks.

23. Before you say something or act in a certain way, think about the consequences.

24. No matter how carefully you plan and how hard you work, sometimes things just don’t work out the way you want them to and that’s okay.

25. It’s important to make your own food instead of going out to restaurants to eat. You could save more money.
